Regular Season Round 14: Real Madrid - Granada 84-57
Date: January 2, 2011
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Real Madrid (11-3) crushed at home bottom-ranked CB Granada (3-11) 84-57 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 13-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-57. It was a great shooting night for Real Madrid especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 62.5 percentage. Naturalized Montenegrin power forward Nikola Mirotic (208-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American guard Clay Tucker (195-80, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee, agency: Pro One Sports) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Russian swingman Yaroslav Korolev (206-87) replied with 12 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Robert Kurz (206-85, college: Notre Dame, agency: Priority Sports) added 8 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for CB Granada. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Madrid keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Regal Barca. CB Granada lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with 11 games lost. Real Madrid will face Menorca Basquet (#16) in Mahon in the next round which should be another easy win for them. CB Granada will play on the road against Gran Canaria 2014 in Las Palmas.
