Very expected game when 10th ranked Ironi Ashkelon (3-9) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Galil Gilboa (7-5) 80-76. Ironi Ashkelon was ahead by 11 points after three quarters before a 24-9 charge of Galil Gilboa, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 20 Ironi Ashkelon turnovers. It was a good game for international guard Dagan Yavzuri (193-85) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 9 rebounds. International guard Gal Mekel (195-88, college: Wichita St.) contributed with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Four Galil Gilboa players scored in double figures. American forward Rahshon Turner (201-75, college: Fairleigh Dickinson, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) replied with 25 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) and his fellow American import guard Desmon Farmer (195-81, college: USC) added 19 points and 7 assists in the effort for Ironi Ashkelon. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Hapoel J-M and Maccabi Ashdod. Ironi Ashkelon lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Galil Gilboa's next round opponent will be Hapoel J-M (#3) in Jerusalem, which may be the game of the day. Ironi Ashkelon will play at home against Maccabi Haifa (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
