1/8 Finals Round 1: Halc.Rojos - Lobos Grises 95-75

Rather predictable result in Veracruz where fifth ranked Halcones Rojos (25-11) outscored 8th ranked Lobos Grises (22-14) 95-75. The game was mostly controlled by Halcones Rojos. Lobos Grises managed to win fourth quarter 34-27. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Halcones Rojos dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Lobos Grises' 32 and made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Lobos Grises 43-31 including 33 on the defensive glass. Halcones Rojos players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a very good performance for Panamanian power forward Jaime Lloreda (201-80, college: LSU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Brandon Robinson (202-81, college: Auburn, agency: Paris Global Sports) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Halcones Rojos' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Brandon Heredia (180-85, college: Lon Morris JC) answered with 17 points and 5 rebounds and Jamaican forward Mugabe Thomas (193-80, college: Cedarville) added 17 points in the effort for Lobos Grises. Five Halcones Rojos and four Lobos Grises players scored in double figures. Halcones Rojos has a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Toros. Lobos Grises at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 14 games lost. They share it with Lechugueros and Huracanes. Halcones Rojos will again play against Lobos Grises (#9) in Durango in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Lobos Grises will have a break next round.
