Regular Season Round 12: Fjolnir - Snaefell 57-79

The game in Fjolnir supposed to be quite interesting. Sixth ranked Snaefell (4-8) played at the court of 7th ranked Fjolnir (2-10). Snaefell smashed Fjolnir 79-57. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Snaefell's preassure prevailed and they won that period 25-9 extending their advantage to 22 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Fjolnir's 46. Snaefell brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds. Forward Berglind Gunnarsdottir (175-93) chipped in 18 points. Snaefell's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Natasha Harris (177-86, college: Boise St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals and Latvian center Inga Buzoka (191-81, college: Missouri Western) added 22 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Snaefell moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Njardvik. Newly promoted Fjolnir keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Snaefell's next round opponent will be higher ranked Haukar (#4) in Hafnarfjordur and it may be quite challenging game. Fjolnir will play at home against KR in Reykjavik.
