Regular Season Round 11: Foshan LL - Liaoning H. 83-93

Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Foshan (3-7) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Liaoning Hunters (6-5) 93-83 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 13-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-83. Strangely Foshan outrebounded Liaoning Hunters 54-36 including 19 on the offensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. The best player for the winners was American guard Donta Smith (201-83, college: SE Illinois JC) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Tian-ju He (203-90) chipped in 21 points. Liaoning Hunters' coach Shiqiang Guo used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nigerian-British power forward Olumide Oyedeji (208-81) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 21 rebounds and American guard Stephon Marbury (187-77, college: Georgia Tech) added 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Liaoning Hunters and five Foshan players scored in double figures. Liaoning Hunters maintains eighth place with 6-5 record. Loser Foshan dropped to the thirteenth position with seven games lost. Liaoning Hunters will meet at home higher ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Foshan will play against Beijing Ducks (#4) and hope to secure a win.
