Not a big story in a game in Monterrey where 11th ranked Potros (17-19) were defeated by third ranked Fuerza Regia (27-9) 84-80 on Wednesday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Potros were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Fuerza Regia forced 21 Potros turnovers. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Jeremis Smith (203-86, college: Georgia Tech) who scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Steve Monreal (180, college: Cal.St.-Monterey) produced 23 points and forward Sammy Monroe (198-85, college: Newberry, agency: Prossin Sports Management) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Fuerza Regia have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Pioneros. Loser Potros keep the eleventh place with 19 games lost. Fuerza Regia is again looking forward to face Potros (#11) in Ciudad Obregon in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Potros will have a break next round.
