Regular Season Round 26: Nova Ves - Komarno 77-74

Fifth-ranked Komarno (11-11) made lots of trouble for first ranked Nova Ves (16-6) on Wednesday. Nova Ves managed to secure only three-point victory 77-74. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-14. But Komarno won second period 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nova Ves made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Komarno helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Polish center Pawel Mroz (215-84) who scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American power forward Louis Johnson (203-86, college: W.Illinois) chipped in 21 points. American guard Johnathon Jones (183-88, college: Oakland, agency: Warren Sports International) produced 17 points and 5 assists and center Michal Maslik (209-89) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Nova Ves has a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-6 record. Komarno at the other side keeps the fifth place with 11 games lost. Nova Ves are looking forward to face SKP Banska Bystrica (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Komarno will play against Prievidza (#9) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
