Regular Season Round 19: Leiden - M.Magixx 69-52

An interesting game for ZZ Leiden (15-3) which hosted in Leiden 4th placed Magixx (11-8). Second ranked ZZ Leiden had an easy win 69-52. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Magixx. It looked good early as Magixx took an 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then ZZ Leiden had a 25-14 second period charge getting the lead and Magixx was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 52-69. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Magixx to just 6 points in third quarter. ZZ Leiden dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Magixx's 22. ZZ Leiden had a 34-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American power forward Jesse Smith (211-82, college: Idaho St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Worthy de Jong (194-88, agency: R.H.Consultancy) helped adding 13 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. At the losing side American forward Markel Humphrey (198-87, college: Marshall) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds and the former international power forward Nick Oudendag (210-87) scored 7 points and 10 rebounds. ZZ Leiden have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain second place with 15-3 record behind leader GasTerra. Magixx at the other side keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. ZZ Leiden will play against BS Weert (#5) on the road in the next round. Magixx will play against DeFriesland in Leeuwarden and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
