Tenth-ranked Fileni BPA (5-9) gave a tough game to fifth ranked Sunrise Scafati (9-5) on Thursday. Sunrise Scafati managed to secure only two-point victory 69-67. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-14. But Fileni BPA won second period 18-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was forward Patrick Baldassarre (200-86, agency: Players Group) who scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Jimmie Hunter (196-77, college: Life) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Four Sunrise Scafati players scored in double figures. Sunrise Scafati's coach Giulio Griccioli used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international center Michele Maggioli (212-77) produced 20 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Barry Elder (193-82, college: Georgia Tech) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Sunrise Scafati has a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Immobiliare SR and Barcellona. Fileni BPA lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Trenkwalder and Assigeco. Sunrise Scafati will meet Tezenis Verona (#15) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Fileni BPA will play against Tuscany Pistoia (#8) and hope to secure a win.
