Very expected game when 6th ranked Estudiantes (2-3) was defeated on the road by second ranked Olimpico de La Banda (2-3) 84-73. It looked good early as Estudiantes took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Olimpico de La Banda had a 25-17 second period charge getting the lead and Estudiantes was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-84. 24 personal fouls committed by Estudiantes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for American center Djibril Kante (201-80, college: Indiana St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds. Forward Enzo Ruiz (193-88, agency: Dream Team Management) accounted for 23 points for the winning side. Naturalized Spanish guard Pepe Sanchez (193-77, college: Temple) came up with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and international center Federico Aguerre (200-88) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Estudiantes in the defeat. Estudiantes' coach Jose Luis Pisani tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Despite that victory Olimpico de La Banda went down to ninth position due to points difference, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Estudiantes. Estudiantes lost third consecutive game. Olimpico de La Banda's next round opponent will be higher ranked Argentino (#5) in Junin and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
