Undefeated Penarol (2-1) recorded its first loss in Mar del Plata on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Boca Juniors (2-4) 73-68. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Penarol. Boca Juniors outrebounded Penarol 51-34 including a 36-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Penarol helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Power forward Mariano Fierro (201-86) fired 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. International forward Sebastian Vega (200-88) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds. Center Alejandro Diez (201-87) produced 16 points and guard Facundo Campazzo (180-91) added 13 points respectively for lost side. Penarol's coach Sergio Hernandez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Boca Juniors went down to fourteenth position due to points difference. Defending champion Penarol dropped to the eighth place with one game lost. Boca Juniors are looking forward to face higher ranked Monte Hermoso (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Penarol will play against Lanus having rather not much hope for a victory.
