Second Stage Round 5: La Union - Quimsa 82-74

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 15th ranked Quimsa's (3-3) road loss to fourteenth ranked La Union (4-1) 74-82. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-19. But Quimsa won second period 23-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. La Union made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Gabriel Mikulas (201-80, college: E.Carolina, agency: Interperformances) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. American guard David Jackson (196-82, college: Penn St.) accounted for 16 points and 4 assists (made all of his twelve free throws !!!) for the winning side. Panamanian forward Dionisio Gomez Camargo (203-80, college: Arkansas) came up with 16 points and 5 rebounds and international center Roman Gonzalez (211-78) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Quimsa in the defeat. Five Quimsa players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. La Union moved-up to second place. Quimsa at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. La Union's next round opponent will be league's leader Atenas in Cordoba and it will be for sure the game of the week. Quimsa will play on the road against Regatas Corrientes (#15).
