Regular Season Round 24: Tokyo Apache - Oita H.Devils 69-84

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when sixth ranked Oita Heat Devils (10-14) beat on the road 5th ranked Tokyo Apache (7-8) 84-69 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Oita Heat Devils. Tokyo Apache managed to win third quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Oita Heat Devils dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Apache's 30. Oita Heat Devils forced 19 Tokyo Apache turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Damian Johnson (201-87, college: Minnesota, agency: Edge Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import power forward Rolando Howell (206-82, college: S.Carolina) who added 18 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Oita Heat Devils players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Byron Eaton (180-86, college: Oklahoma St.) with 15 points and 6 steals and guard Cohey Aoki (167-80) scored 19 points (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Tokyo Apache's coach Bob Hill rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Oita Heat Devils has a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 10-14 record which they share with defeated Tokyo Apache. Loser Tokyo Apache dropped to the sixth place with eight games lost. Oita Heat Devils will meet at home higher ranked Akita Happinets (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tokyo Apache will play against Shimane Magic and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
