No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Panionios (6-4) beat 11th ranked Proteas (1-9) in Voula 56-52 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 20-9 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Panionios forced 19 Proteas turnovers and outrebounded them 42-24 including 18 on the offensive glass. Proteas was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American guard Kary Koch (173-83, college: Missouri St.) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. contributed with 8 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Guard Peppi Valeta (177-77) replied with 16 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Emily Fox (175-87, college: Minnesota) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Proteas. Proteas' coach Arguris Papapetrou rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Panionios moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Aris. Proteas lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with nine games lost. Panionios will face league's second-placed DAS Ano Liosa at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Proteas will play against Olympiakos (#10) in Athens and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
