Regular Season Round 24: Shiga L-Stars - Niigata Albirex 84-76

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Shiga. Third ranked Shiga Lakestars faced one of their biggest challengers Niigata Albirex. Host Shiga Lakestars (15-8) defeated guests from Niigata (10-11) 84-76. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Niigata Albirex won third quarter 22-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shiga Lakestars forced 20 Niigata Albirex turnovers and outrebounded them 43-32 including 29 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American power forward Gary Hamilton (208-84, college: Miami (FL)) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 18 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. The other American import forward Lamar Rice (203-82, college: Georgetown, KY) chipped in 8 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Zachary Andrews (203-85, college: Bradley) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and Trinidad and Tobago power forward Julius Ashby (205-82, college: Colorado) added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Shiga Lakestars moved-up to second place. Niigata Albirex at the other side keeps the third position with 11 games lost. Shiga Lakestars are again looking forward to face Niigata Albirex (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Niigata Albirex will have a break next round.
