DBL top team - GasTerra (17-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat eighth ranked Giants (6-14) in Groningen 80-62. It looked good early as Giants took an 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then GasTerra took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 18 points. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Giants to just 5 points in third and fourth quarters. They outrebounded Giants 44-27 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Americans were the main players on the court. The winners were led by center Matt Haryasz (210-84, college: Stanford) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 12 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Jason Dourisseau (196-83, college: Nebraska) supported him with 13 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four GasTerra players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by forward Tim Blue (205-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) did not help to save the game for Giants. Forward Tyler Tiedeman (201-85, college: Boise St., agency: Interperformances) added 14 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Giants' coach Weird Goedee rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Defending champion maintains first position with 17-2 record. Giants at the other side keep the eighth place with 14 games lost. GasTerra will play against Magixx (#4) in Nijmegen in the next round. Giants will play at home against Rotterdam (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
