Regular Season Round 27: Inter Bratislava - Nitra 84-87

Ninth-ranked Inter Bratislava (8-13) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Nitra (17-4) on Saturday. The visitors from Nitra managed to secure only three-point victory 87-84. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 8 points after three quarters before their 29-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Nitra forced 20 Inter Bratislava turnovers. It was a good game for American forward Duane Erwin (206-82, college: Memphis, agency: Lanshire Group) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Milan Ziak (190-88) contributed with 16 points and 4 assists for the winners. Bosnian center Stjepan Gavran (206-78) answered with 23 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Keyron Sheard (188-86, college: Chattanooga) added 22 points in the effort for Inter Bratislava. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Nitra has a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 17-4 record. Inter Bratislava lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 13 games lost. Nitra are looking forward to face Levice (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Inter Bratislava will play against Vahostav-Zilina and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
