Regular Season Round 24: Toyama Grouses - Miyazaki SS 77-99

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Toyama Grouses (6-15) were crushed at home by ninth ranked Miyazaki Shining Suns (7-16) 99-77 on Saturday. The game without a history. Miyazaki Shining Suns led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great shooting night for Miyazaki Shining Suns especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. The game was also dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Jackie Manuel (196-83, college: N.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Elijah Palmer (201-81, college: Duquesne, agency: Court Side) who added 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Brian Harper (208-85, college: Paine) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and forward John Davis (198-84, college: Tarleton St.) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Miyazaki Shining Suns and five Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. Toyama Grouses' coach Kohei Etoh gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Miyazaki Shining Suns moved-up to eighth place. Loser Toyama Grouses keep the seventh position with 15 games lost. They share it with Takamatsu FA. Miyazaki Shining Suns will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toyama Grouses will play again against Miyazaki Shining Suns (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
