Regular Season Round 25: Shiga L-Stars - Niigata Albirex 85-86

Important game to mention about took place in Shiga. Third ranked Niigata Albirex (11-11) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging their biggest opponent Shiga Lakestars (15-9) 86-85 on Sunday evening. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Shiga Lakestars were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. Power forward Zachary Andrews (203-85, college: Bradley) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and swingman Willie Veasley (190-87, college: Butler, agency: KMG Sports Management) chipped in 20 points and 11 rebounds. Five Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Lamar Rice (203-82, college: Georgetown, KY) responded with 26 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Gary Hamilton (208-84, college: Miami (FL)) scored 8 points and 14 rebounds. Shiga Lakestars' coach Haruyuki Ishibashi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Niigata Albirex maintains third place with 11-11 record having thirteen points less than leader Osaka Evessa. Shiga Lakestars at the other side keep the second position with nine games lost. Niigata Albirex will play against Oita Heat Devils (#6) at home in the next round. Shiga Lakestars will play against Kyoto Hannaryz (#5) and hope to get back on the winning track.
