Regular Season Round 11: Panionios - Iraklis 94-76
Date: January 9, 2011
There was no surprise in Athens where 13th ranked Iraklis (2-9) was defeated by eleventh ranked Panionios (4-7) 94-76. The game was mostly controlled by Panionios. Iraklis managed to win fourth quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for Serbian guard Milos Vujanic (192-80) who led the winners and scored 26 points. The former international forward Nikos Barlos (202-79) accounted for 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. American guard Matt Bouldin (196-88, college: Gonzaga) came up with 19 points and Bosnian center Ermin Jazvin (210-80, agency: Lanshire Group) added 10 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Iraklis in the defeat. Five Panionios and four Iraklis players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Panionios moved-up to tenth place, which they share with AEK. Iraklis lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth position with nine games lost. Panionios' next round opponent will be higher ranked Aris (#3) in Thessaloniki and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Iraklis will play at home against Ikaros (#9) in Kalitheas.
