No shocking result in a game when second ranked DongGuan Leopards (11-1) beat at home 9th ranked Qingdao Double Star (5-7) 117-106 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 13 points at the halftime before their 75-51 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. DongGuan Leopards forced 23 Qingdao Double Star turnovers. Qingdao Double Star was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American-Lebanese power forward Jackson Vroman (208-81, college: Iowa St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 19 rebounds. Nigerian guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: Cal.St. Fullerton) contributed with 36 points (!!!) and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. Five DongGuan Leopards players scored in double figures. American forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) answered with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import guard Dee Brown (185-84, college: Illinois) added 33 points (!!!) in the effort for Qingdao Double Star. Qingdao Double Star's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. DongGuan Leopards maintains second place with 11-1 record behind leader Xinjiang. Loser Qingdao Double Star dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. DongGuan Leopards will face Shandong Bulls (#9) in Jinan in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Qingdao Double Star will play at home against Foshan.
