Very important is a road loss of third ranked Cras Taranto (8-3) against tenth ranked Vomero Napoli (3-8) on Sunday night. Visiting Cras Taranto was defeated by tenth ranked Vomero Napoli (3-8) in Napoli 69-59. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Cras Taranto. The game was mostly controlled by Vomero Napoli. Cras Taranto managed to win fourth quarter 25-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for Jamaican power forward Vanessa Gidden (193-85, college: Hofstra) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Serbian forward Marija Micovic (187-82, agency: Players Group) accounted for 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Four Vomero Napoli players scored in double figures. American forward Megan Mahoney (183-83, college: Kansas St., agency: LBM Management) came up with 20 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Sophia Young (186-83, college: Baylor) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Cras Taranto in the defeat. Vomero Napoli maintains tenth place with 3-8 record, which they share with Basket Parma. Defending champion Cras Taranto dropped to the second position with three games lost. They share it with Bracco Geas and Umbertide. Vomero Napoli will meet Basket Parma (#11) on the road in the next round. Cras Taranto will play against Bracco Geas (#3) in Sesto S.Giovanni and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
