Regular Season Round 11: Umana Reyer - Bracco Geas 72-73

The biggest surprise of round 11 in the A1 took place in Venezia. Fourth ranked Bracco Geas (8-3) saved a 1-point derby victory on the road edging 7th ranked Umana Reyer (5-6) 73-72 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 13 points after three quarters before their 29-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Australian center Laura Summerton (191-83) saved the victory by scoring 21 points. Hungarian center Petra Ujhelyi (192-80, college: S.Carolina) contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Bracco Geas players scored in double figures. The former international guard Giorgia Sottana (177-88) answered with 27 points and 4 assists and Slovenian forward Daliborka Jokic (185-81) added 20 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) in the effort for Umana Reyer. Bracco Geas have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Taranto and Umbertide. Umana Reyer at the other side keeps the seventh position with six games lost. Bracco Geas is looking forward to face league's second-placed Cras Taranto on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Umana Reyer will play against Liomatic Umbertide (#4) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
