Regular Season Round 14: Kiryat Tivon - Elitzur Yavne 79-88

The biggest surprise of round 14 in National League was guest Elitzur Yavne's (10-4) road victory over Hapoel Tivon (#4) 88-79 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Hapoel Tivon. Hapoel Tivon was trailing by 13 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 36-25 charge of Elitzur Yavne, which allowed them to win the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Chad Timberlake (194-84, college: Fairleigh Dickinson) who scored 25 points and 8 assists. The other American import center DeVon Hardin (211-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. American center Ben Strong (211-86, college: Guilford, agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds and power forward Kobi Izik (204-83, agency: Avi Zilberman) added 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Elitzur Yavne and five Hapoel Tivon players scored in double figures. Elitzur Yavne moved-up to second place, which they share with Maccabi HBK. Hapoel Tivon at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with Beer Yaakov. Elitzur Yavne is looking forward to face league's leader Hapoel T-A in Tel-Aviv in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hapoel Tivon will play on the road against Kohav Yair in Kohav Yair and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
