An interesting game took place in Shanghai where higher ranked Bayi Fubang (7-6) was upset on the court of twelfth ranked Shanghai Sharks (6-8) 116-105 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 63-50 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Shanghai Sharks dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Bayi Fubang's 38 and made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Shanghai Sharks outrebounded Bayi Fubang 56-38 including a 39-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) who had a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 24 rebounds. International guard Wei LiuWei (190-80) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Five Shanghai Sharks players scored in double figures. Shanghai Sharks' coach Bob Jr. Donewald used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international center ZhiZhi Wang (214-79) produced a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and international swingman Bo Zhang (200-89) added 26 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Shanghai Sharks moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Bayi Fubang dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Shanghai Sharks will meet at home higher ranked Jiangsu Dragons (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Bayi Fubang will play against Shanxi Zhongyu (#15) in Taiyuan and hope to secure a win.
