Very expected game in Mahon where 16th ranked Menorca Basquet (4-12) was defeated by ninth ranked Bizkaia Bilbao (9-7) 71-63 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-63. Bizkaia Bilbao outrebounded Menorca Basquet 34-17 including a 25-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Croatian forward Marko Banic (205-84) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 8 rebounds and American-Panamanian forward Chris Warren (196-81, college: S.Carolina) who added 11 points and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side Serbian forward Ivan Radenovic (208-84, college: Arizona) responded with 11 points and Israeli guard Raviv Limonad (192-84) scored 9 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Bizkaia Bilbao moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Fuenlabrada and DKV Joventut. Menorca Basquet lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixteenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Meridiano. Bizkaia Bilbao will meet at home Cajasol (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Menorca Basquet will play against Assignia Manresa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
