Second Stage Round 7: Sionista - Penarol 67-76

Bottom-ranked Sionista (0-7) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their seventh consecutive match to second ranked Penarol (4-2) 76-67 on Wednesday evening. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 24-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Sionista was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for forward Nicolas Lauria (202-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points. International forward Leonardo Gutierrez (200-78) helped adding 10 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side forward Alejandro Zilli (200-82) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and guard Pedro Franco (187-81) scored 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Sionista players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Penarol went down to third position due to points difference, which they share with Lanus. Loser Sionista still closes the standings with seven games lost. Penarol will face Quimsa (#8) in Santiado Estero in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sionista will play on the road against Estudiantes (#15) in Bahia Blanca and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
