Regular Season Round 13: Keflavik - Grindavik 59-71

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Keflavik (11-2) against eighth ranked Grindavik (3-10) on Wednesday night. Host Keflavik was defeated by eighth ranked Grindavik (3-10) in Keflavik 71-59. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Keflavik. The game was mostly controlled by Grindavik. Keflavik managed to win third quarter 20-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Keflavik was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Crystal Boyd (180-87, college: N.Mexico St.) stepped up and scored 29 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and center Helga Hallgrimsdottir (180-87) chipped in 10 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Jacquline Adamshick (183-84, college: Villanova) responded with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and the former international guard Palina Gunnlaugsdottir (170-87) scored 7 points and 5 assists. Keflavik's coach Jon Eovaldsson let to play twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Grindavik moved-up to seventh place. Keflavik at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. Grindavik will play against higher ranked Snaefell (#5) in Stykkisholmur in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Keflavik will play on the road against the league's leader Hamar having rather not much hope for a victory.
