An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Perth. Second ranked Perth Wildcats faced 4th ranked Wollongong Hawks. Host Perth Wildcats (11-5) smashed guests from Gwynneville (9-7) 92-58. The game was mostly controlled by Perth Wildcats. Wollongong Hawks managed to win fourth quarter 25-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Wollongong Hawks to just 7 points in second quarter. Perth Wildcats dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Wollongong Hawks' 26. Perth Wildcats forced 25 Wollongong Hawks turnovers and outrebounded them 39-24 including 28 on the defensive glass. Forward Cameron Tovey (200-85, college: Augusta St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Shawn Redhage (203-81, college: Arizona St., agency: Warren Sports International) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Four Perth Wildcats players scored in double figures. Swingman Timothy Coenraad (201-85, college: Nova SE) replied with 21 points and 7 rebounds and guard Rhys Martin (193-86, college: Nova SE) added 14 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Wollongong Hawks. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains second position with 11-5 record behind leader Breakers. Wollongong Hawks lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth place with seven games lost. Perth Wildcats will play against Adelaide 36ers (#6) in Findon in the next round. Wollongong Hawks will play on the road against Kings in Sydney and hope to get back on the winning track.
