Bottom-ranked TianJin Rongcheng managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of four consecutive loses on Friday night. This time they edged sixteenth-ranked Fujian SBS XunXin in Tianjin 96-93. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 96-93. TianJin Rongcheng made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when TianJin Rongcheng made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for Ivorian-French power forward Herve Lamizana (207-81, college: Rutgers) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Forward Nan Zhang (197-81) helped adding 23 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman SongLin Gong (195-81) with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American swingman Andre Emmett (196-82, college: Texas Tech) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Four TianJin Rongcheng and five Fujian SBS XunXin players scored in double figures. TianJin Rongcheng (3-11) moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Shanxi Zh. and Jilin. Loser Fujian SBS XunXin dropped to the bottom position with 12 games lost. TianJin Rongcheng will meet higher ranked Bayi Fubang (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fujian SBS XunXin will play against the league's second-placed DongGuan Leopards (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
