Regular Season Round 15: Qingdao E. - Guangsha L. 112-104

We should mention about the upset which took place in Qingdao, where higher ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (8-6) lost to twelfth ranked Qingdao Double Star (6-8) in a road game 104-112 on Friday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Zhejiang Guangsha Lions won third quarter 24-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Qingdao Double Star won last quarter 35-26. They made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. The best player for the winners was American guard Dee Brown (185-84, college: Illinois) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 assists. His fellow American import forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) chipped in 26 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Puerto Rican center Peter John Ramos (222-85) who recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Tre Kelley (182-85, college: S.Carolina) added 22 points respectively. Four Qingdao Double Star and five Zhejiang Guangsha Lions players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Qingdao Double Star moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Zhejiang C. Loser Zhejiang Guangsha Lions dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Qingdao Double Star will face Zhejiang Cyclones (#11) in Hangzhou in the next round.
