Regular Season Round 26: Kyoto Hannar. - Shiga L-Stars 88-90

Another very close game took place in Kyoto between Shiga Lakestars and Kyoto Hannaryz. Second ranked Shiga Lakestars (16-9) got a very close victory on the road over 5th ranked Kyoto Hannaryz (12-13). Shiga Lakestars managed to escape with a 2-point win 90-88 on Saturday evening. Kyoto Hannaryz was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 19-16 charge of Shiga Lakestars, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 19 Kyoto Hannaryz turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Gary Hamilton (208-84, college: Miami (FL)) who scored 9 points, 19 rebounds and 7 assists. The other American import center Ray Schafer (213-83, college: Oregon) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Trinidad and Tobago power forward Kibwe Trim (208-84, college: Sacred Heart) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 18 rebounds and American guard Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf (186-69, college: LSU) added 22 points and 5 steals respectively for the hosts. Four Shiga Lakestars and five Kyoto Hannaryz players scored in double figures. Shiga Lakestars maintains second position with 16-9 record having seven points less than leader Osaka Evessa. Loser Kyoto Hannaryz keeps the fifth place with 13 games lost. Shiga Lakestars will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kyoto Hannaryz will play again against the league's second-placed Shiga Lakestars (#2) and hope to secure a win.
