Regular Season Round 10: Near East - Lavrio 76-89

No shocking result in a game in Kesariani where fourth ranked Lavrio (7-3) defeated 14th ranked Near East (3-7) 89-76 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Lavrio. Near East managed to win second period 27-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lavrio dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Near East's 38. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Swingman Sa Giannakopoulos (195-82) fired 18 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Forward Giannis Kakiouzis (205-78) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Alkis Pappas (185-88, agency: FCM) produced 13 points and 5 assists and Serbian guard Milan Stanojevic (188-86, college: E.Washington) added 15 points and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lavrio has a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Arkadikos. Near East at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with seven games lost. Lavrio will face Koroivos (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Near East will play against Ermis Lagkada in Lagadas.
