Regular Season Round 11: Panathinaikos - Ikaros Kalitheas 51-54

The most interesting game of round 11 in the A1 was only three-point a home defeat of 4th placed Panathinaikos (7-4) to third ranked Esperides (8-3) 54-51. Panathinaikos was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Panathinaikos 40-26 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American center Tiffani Ducker (188-86, college: Oregon St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Bulgarian center Lidia Milkova (192-70) helped adding 14 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Jennifer Derevjanik (175-82, college: George Mason) responded with 20 points and 4 steals and forward Theodora Panteli (183-87, college: Binghamton) scored 9 points and 12 rebounds. Esperides moved-up to second place, which they share with DAS Ano Liosa. Panathinaikos at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Panionios. Esperides is looking forward to face Aris (#6) in Thessaloniki in the next round. Panathinaikos will play at home against FEA Neas in Halkidon and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
