The game between closely ranked teams ended with tenth ranked Panionios' (6-7) home victory over 11th ranked AEK (4-8) 78-75 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-75. AEK was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Giorgos Tsiaras (207-82) stepped up and scored 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and American center Ryvon Covile (206-84, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: ZAG Advocates) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Panionios' coach Giorgos Bartzokas let to play all 12 players in such tough game. At the losing side American-Bosnian guard Terell Castle (182-72, college: Nicholls St., agency: Court Side) responded with 23 points and 8 assists (made all of his fourteen free throws !!!) and the former international forward Periklis Dorkofikis (206-80) scored 18 points (made all of his seven free throws). The victory was the third consecutive win for Panionios. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Ikaros and Peristeri GS. Loser AEK keeps the eleventh position with eight games lost. Panionios will face higher ranked Marousi (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AEK will play against Marousi (#3).
