There was a minor upset when 14th ranked Assignia Manresa (6-11) lost at home to sixteenth ranked Menorca Basquet (5-12) 63-53 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Menorca Basquet. Assignia Manresa managed to win second period 16-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Assignia Manresa 39-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. U.S. Virgin Isl. Swingman Cuthbert Victor (196-83, college: Murray St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. American power forward Jakim Donaldson (204-83, college: Edinboro) contributed with 8 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Slovenian power forward Uros Slokar (210-83) answered with 15 points and 8 rebounds and Ukrainian swingman Sergii Gladyr (196-89) added 12 points in the effort for Assignia Manresa. Assignia Manresa's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Menorca Basquet maintains sixteenth place with 5-12 record, which they share with Meridiano. Loser Assignia Manresa dropped to the fifteenth position with 11 games lost. Menorca Basquet will face higher ranked Blancos de Rueda (#3) in Valladolid in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
