Regular Season Round 27: Niigata Albirex - Oita H.Devils 75-62

Rather predictable result when third ranked Niigata Albirex (13-11) beat at home 6th ranked Oita Heat Devils (12-16) 75-62 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-62. Niigata Albirex dominated on the defensive end, holding Oita Heat Devils to just 6 points in second quarter. The best player for the winners was American power forward Zachary Andrews (203-85, college: Bradley) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 20 rebounds. Trinidad and Tobago power forward Julius Ashby (205-82, college: Colorado) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Taj Finger (203-86) who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import power forward Rolando Howell (206-82, college: S.Carolina) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively. The victory was the third consecutive win for Niigata Albirex. They maintain third place with 13-11 record having thirteen points less than leader Osaka Evessa. Loser Oita Heat Devils keep the sixth position with 16 games lost. Niigata Albirex will face Miyazaki Shining Suns (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Oita Heat Devils will play against Toyama Grouses and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
