Regular Season Round 13: Fjolnir - Stjarnan 92-97
Date: January 16, 2011
Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Fjolnir (4-9) lost at home to sixth ranked Stjarnan (7-6) 97-92. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Fjolnir won fourth quarter 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Justin Shouse (180-81, college: Mercyhurst) stepped up and scored 24 points and 4 assists for the winners and FYR Macedonian forward Jovan Zdravevski (197-80) chipped in 23 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side the former international guard Aegir Steinarsson (182-91) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 8 rebounds and 14 assists and American forward Brandon Springer (196, college: Cumberland) scored 20 points and 9 rebounds. Four Stjarnan and five Fjolnir players scored in double figures. Fjolnir's coach Tomas Holton rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Stjarnan moved-up to fifth place. Fjolnir lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with nine games lost. They share it with Njardvik and IR. Stjarnan will play against higher ranked Keflavik (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fjolnir will play against Hamar (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
