Regular Season Round 17: Clavijo - Coruna 75-61

LEB Silver top team - CB Clavijo (13-3) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat thirteenth ranked Leyma Basquet (5-11) in Logrono 75-61. It looked good early as Leyma Basquet took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then CB Clavijo had a 28-23 second period charge getting the lead and Leyma Basquet was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 61-75. CB Clavijo brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Center David Mesa (200-80) nailed 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Matt Witt (183-84, college: E.Kentucky) accounted for 15 points and 9 assists. Power forward Jose Ramon Esmoris (202-75) came up with 13 points and 5 rebounds and guard Lino Lopez (189-76, agency: Court Side) added 9 points and 4 assists respectively for Leyma Basquet in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CB Clavijo maintains first place with 13-3 record, which they share with Andorra. Leyma Basquet at the other side dropped to the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. CB Clavijo will play against Santurtzi (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Leyma Basquet will play against the league's second-placed River Andorra (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
