Regular Season Round 27: Fukuoka Rizing - Akita NH 115-90

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Akita Happinets (9-17) were crushed on the road by third ranked Fukuoka Rizing (16-12) 115-90 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Fukuoka Rizing. Akita Happinets managed to win second period 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fukuoka Rizing dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Akita Happinets' 46 and made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. Fukuoka Rizing looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Michael Parker (200-81, college: Evergreen St.) who scored 40 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Brazilian center Thiago Cordeiro (208-85, college: Arkansas Tech) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Nigerian forward Ayodokun Akingbade (207-84, college: George Washington) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds and American guard Sek Henry (193-87, college: Nebraska, agency: Impact Basketball) added 27 points respectively. Five Fukuoka Rizing and four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. Akita Happinets' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Fukuoka Rizing maintains third place with 16-12 record having six points less than leader Osaka Evessa. Loser Akita Happinets keep the sixth position with 17 games lost. Fukuoka Rizing will face Tokyo Apache (#4) on the road in the next round. Akita Happinets will play against Okinawa GK and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
