Very important is a road loss of second ranked DAS Ano Liosa (8-3) against sixth ranked Panionios (7-4) on Sunday night. Visiting DAS Ano Liosa was defeated by Panionios in Athens 79-69. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of DAS Ano Liosa. The game was mostly controlled by Panionios. DAS Ano Liosa managed to win second period 27-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding DAS Ano Liosa to just 0 points in first quarter. Panionios made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 DAS Ano Liosa turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for Mirna Mazic who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 15 rebounds. American guard Kary Koch (173-83, college: Missouri St.) accounted for 25 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. American power forward Diana Delva (188, college: Hartford) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and British guard Olga Smirnaiou (177-84) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for DAS Ano Liosa in the defeat. Four DAS Ano Liosa players scored in double figures. DAS Ano Liosa's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Panionios moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Panathinaikos. DAS Ano Liosa at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with Esperides. Panionios will play against PAOK (#9) in Thessaloniki in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. DAS Ano Liosa will play on the road against Olympiakos (#11) in Athens and hopes to get back on the winning track.
