Regular Season Round 15: Asker Aliens - Tromso 83-64

There was a change at the BLNO leadership position after last games. Round 15 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Tromso (10-3). They were crushed by second ranked Asker (11-3) 83-64 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tromso. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Asker. Tromso managed to win fourth quarter 27-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 32-of-41 free shots (78.0 percent) during the game. Asker forced 21 Tromso turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by Tromso helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for the former international forward Ronny Karlsen (202-78, college: Independence CC) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Mustafa Mahnin (182-80) helped adding 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Asker players scored in double figures. Asker's coach Inge Kristiansen used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American swingman Ronald Timus (197-84, college: Morgan St.) with 22 points and the other American import forward Gerald January (201-88, college: Montevallo) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Asker have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Tromso at the other side dropped to the second place with three games lost. They share the position with Ulriken. They were replaced at the leadership position by Asker. Tromso will play next round against Ammerud trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Asker will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Gimle in Bergen.
