Regular Season Round 14: Maccabi Ashdod - Hapoel T-A 93-55

Bottom-ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 14th consecutive match to fourth ranked Maccabi Ashdod (9-5) 93-55 on Monday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Ashdod. Hapoel Tel-Aviv managed to win fourth quarter 13-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Ashdod dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Hapoel Tel-Aviv's 28. Maccabi Ashdod forced 21 Hapoel Tel-Aviv turnovers and outrebounded them 42-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Hapoel Tel-Aviv's players. Guard Orian Amsalem (178-92) notched 12 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and international guard Liran Buchris (167-85) supported her with 11 points and 6 assists. Four Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. Even 34 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds by American guard Rachel Jones (170-87, college: St.Mary's (TX)) did not help to save the game for Hapoel Tel-Aviv. Her fellow American import power forward Sara Rabinovitch (178, college: New York U.) added 12 points for the guests. Maccabi Ashdod maintains fourth position with 9-5 record. Loser Hapoel Tel-Aviv still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will meet higher ranked Maccabi Ramat Hen (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play against Elitzur Netanya (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
