Quarter-Finals Round 3: Angeles - Pioneros 76-69

Top ranked Pioneros (27-9) recorded its ninth loss in Puebla on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by sixth ranked Angeles (23-12) 76-69. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 29-18 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Curtis Withers (203-84, college: Charlotte) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds. Venezuelan forward Axiers Sucre (198-78) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Angeles' coach Nelson Solorzano used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Rammel Allen (210-79, college: Bridgeport) who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds and the former international center Horacio Llamas (212-73) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Angeles has a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 23-12 record. Pioneros at the other side still keep top position with nine games lost. They share it with Fuerza Regia. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
