Regular Season Round 17: Liaoning H. - Xinjiang FT 85-103

CBA top team - Xinjiang Flying Tige (16-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat eighth ranked Liaoning Hunters (8-8) in Yingkou 103-85. It looked good early as Liaoning Hunters took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Xinjiang Flying Tige had a 20-13 second period charge getting the lead and Liaoning Hunters were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 85-103. Xinjiang Flying Tige made 25-of-28 charity shots (89.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 29 Liaoning Hunters turnovers. Liaoning Hunters were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Quincy Douby (191-84, college: Rutgers) nailed 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import forward James Singleton (203-81, college: Murray St.) accounted for 26 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Xinjiang Flying Tige's coach XingQuan Jiang allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Tian-ju He (203-90) came up with 28 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and guard Ming Yang (193-85) added 22 points and 4 assists respectively for Liaoning Hunters in the defeat. Four Liaoning Hunters players scored in double figures. Xinjiang Flying Tige have an impressive series of sixteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-0 record. Liaoning Hunters at the other side keep the eighth position with eight games lost. Xinjiang Flying Tige will play against Beijing Ducks (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Liaoning Hunters will play against Qingdao Double Star and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
