A very close game took place in Taiyuan between Shanxi Zhongyu and Shanghai Sharks. Fourteenth ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (5-11) got a very close home victory over 11th ranked Shanghai Sharks (6-10). Shanxi Zhongyu managed to escape with a 2-point win 126-124 on Wednesday evening. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Shanxi Zhongyu shot 30 for 40 from the free-throw line, while Shanghai Sharks only scored fourteen points from the stripe. Shanxi Zhongyu looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Leon Rodgers (199-80, college: N.Illinois) who scored 43 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Jordanian guard Osama Daghlas (199-79, college: Midwestern St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Shanxi Zhongyu's coach ShuMin Gao used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American swingman Devin Green (201-82, college: Hampton) produced 39 points (!!!) and 6 assists and the other American import forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) added 28 points and 20 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Shanxi Zhongyu and five Shanghai Sharks players scored in double figures. Shanxi Zhongyu moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Foshan. Loser Shanghai Sharks dropped to the tenth position with ten games lost. Shanxi Zhongyu will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shanghai Sharks will play against TianJin Rongcheng (#17) in Tianjin and hope to secure a win.
