Regular Season Round 15: Breakers - 36ers 91-77

Date: January 20, 2011
No shocking result in a game when first ranked New Zealand Breakers (13-3) beat 7th ranked Adelaide 36ers (7-10) in Auckland 91-77 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by New Zealand Breakers. Adelaide 36ers managed to win fourth quarter 22-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American forward Gary Wilkinson (206-82, college: Utah St.) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Kirk Penney (196-80, college: Wisconsin) contributed with 19 points for the winners. The former international forward Adam Ballinger (205-79, college: Michigan St.) answered with 16 points and 8 rebounds and center Daniel Johnson (212-88, college: Pepperdine) added 18 points in the effort for Adelaide 36ers. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. New Zealand Breakers has a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-3 record. Loser Adelaide 36ers dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. New Zealand Breakers will face Cairns Taipans (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Adelaide 36ers will play against the league's second-placed Perth Wildcats.
