There was no surprise when 8th ranked Girona FC (9-11) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Caceres 2016 (14-6) 67-55 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 67-55. Caceres 2016 made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Caceres 2016 outrebounded Girona FC 39-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Ryan Humphrey (203-79, college: Notre Dame, agency: Priority Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and guard Carlos Cherry (184-79) who added 14 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Caceres 2016 players scored in double figures. Center Josep Ortega (201-84) responded with 12 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized American power forward Darryl Middleton (203-66, college: Baylor) scored 9 points. Girona FC's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Caceres 2016 maintains fifth position with 14-6 record. Loser Girona FC dropped to the tenth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with La Palma. Caceres 2016 will meet league's leader Obradoiro CAB in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Girona FC will play against Grupo Iruna Navarra (#7) in Pamplona and hope to secure a win.
