Second Stage Round 9: MH Basket - Obras 71-82

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Obras (6-3) beat on the road 10th ranked Monte Hermoso (4-6) 82-71. The game was mostly controlled by Obras. Monte Hermoso managed to win fourth quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was international power forward Juan Gutierrez (205-83) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds. The former international guard Luis Cequeira (180-85) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. Four Obras players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Hernando Salles (188-79) who recorded 22 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and American power forward Byron Johnson (201-80, college: Belm.Abbey, agency: Dream Team Management) added 16 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Obras has a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 6-3 record behind leader Atenas, which they share with La Union. Monte Hermoso lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with six games lost. Obras' next round opponent will be Penarol (#5) in Mar del Plata. Monte Hermoso will play at home against Gimnasia CR (#9) in Comodoro R. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
