Third-ranked Jiangsu Dragons (11-6) made lots of trouble for second ranked DongGuan Leopards (15-2) on Friday. DongGuan Leopards managed to secure only two-point victory 89-87. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 14 points after three quarters before their 29-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. DongGuan Leopards made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American-Lebanese power forward Jackson Vroman (208-81, college: Iowa St.) who scored 20 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Nigerian guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: Cal.St. Fullerton) chipped in 28 points and 5 rebounds. DongGuan Leopards' coach Brian Goorjian used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was French power forward Jerome Moiso (208-78, college: UCLA) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds and American swingman Antoine Wright (201-84, college: Texas A&M) added 24 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. DongGuan Leopards maintains second position with 15-2 record having just two points less than leader Xinjiang. Jiangsu Dragons at the other side dropped to the fourth place with six games lost. They share the position with Zhejiang G.L.. DongGuan Leopards are looking forward to face Bayi Fubang (#7) in Ningbo in the next round where they are favorite. Jiangsu Dragons will play on the road against Zhejiang Cyclones in Hangzhou and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
